FINAL SUBMISSION
View: Entering bridge from the Squarehouse.
Here the entrance is rather simple in terms of shapes and sizes however the textures allow for a disorienting feeling in order to indicate the innovation of moving elements of architecture.

View: Studying space

View: Lecture Room
Lecture rooms are usually radially organised and this concept was continued in this experiment, however the circular shape of the room allows innovative design as windows which are placed in a disorienting way. They are looped around the room and act as vectors that direct students' attention to the lecturer.

View: Library space and stairs leading to gallery

View: Computer Labs
In this experiment the disorienting placement of the computers allow for innovation as students can access computers more easily through the main corridor and allows an open view which allows distraction from the computer.

View: Crossing Anzac Parade
The shapes which the building uses are quite smooth and organic however the thick timber louvres act as not only shading devices but also disorient the space and the visual aspect of the bridge.

View: From the main university walkway.
From students' perspectives, the bridge is a disorienting piece of architecture which connects two buildings however for those who use it, it becomes a location of study and creativity.

DEVELOPING MOVING ELEMENTS

First moving element: Similar to the shape of sound waves, I wanted something which would be used as a shading device. It is connected to a metal conveyor which allows the planks to move around the building.

Second element: The places where the bridge connects to existing buildings. It will expand and move to shelter people when they enter the school. Will be an open section, not yet finished.

DRAFT SKETCHUP IMAGES/PROGRESS

Placement of perspective

First draft but discontinued because it didn't integrate the idea of the bridge being the school

Final draft - currently without moving elements

MASSING ELEMENTS

From the given document of different bridges, gathered and drew a few ideas of the distinct shapes some of the bridges formulated

Ideas for bridge

Bridge connecting to Squarehouse, Blockhouse, Tyree Tech

INITIAL MOVING ELEMENT

Just an idea as to what kinda of moving element I was wanting
Definitely think the moving element should affect the heating/shading of the building

Chicago referencing

3 - 5 words:
innovative
disorienting
diverge

Innovative design diverges from simplicity, rather, it is disorienting

5 IMAGE CAPTURES OF ARCHITECTURE

Movement and continuity of space is not broken as the interior and exterior are “dissolved” and there is no definite line to differentiate the two spaces. The curves which don’t touch collide add to this obscurity

The night time setting highlights the interior of the tram stop created by the large curve. It is within this space where most commuters communicate with the space thus making it important

The walls, seating and elevated floors indicate the interior space of the tram stop but despite this, the area is exposed, crumbling the privacy of interior spaces. This effectively reduces the distinction between two separate spaces
APPLIED TEXTURES

 TEXTURE 1: DARK

Used this on the walls around the seating area as this area would be seen and commonly contacted with commuters

TEXTURE 2: MEDIUM

This was used on the larger curve of the tram stop. Because of the pattern which intersects at 90 degrees, the texture showed up smoother and more connected compared to what I experienced in EXP1
TEXTURE 3: LIGHT

Used on the inner side of the smaller curve because when both patterns were on the outside it looked unorganised and it would be seen by commuters when walking under the curve

PROCESS OF DESIGN
From the three combined axonometrics, I decide to continue with AXO5&6

AXO 5: Dissolve the distinction between the interior and exterior
AXO 6: The space between is more important, Carlo Scarpa

Rotated the axonometric
Experimented with the curved axonometric
